The European Commission states that tomato production in the European Union will decrease by 3% in 2022, in line with the downward trend in recent years, and the total production volume will be 6.2 million tons.
The main reason for the decrease in tomato production in the EU is the decrease in greenhouse production due to rising energy costs.
With this decrease, it is expected that there will be a decrease in the supply of tomatoes to the UK, which supplies 75% of the tomatoes produced in the European Union.
