Recent frosts in the Spanish region of Valencia have already caused more than 50m euros in damage, according to data released by the farmer organization LA UNIÓ de Llauradors.
According to the data of LA UNIÓ, the size of the area affected by the last frosts is more than 33,000 hectares. The province of Valencia was the most affected province with 64%, followed by Castellon with 27% and Alicante with 11%.
80% of the areas affected by frost events are almond trees, 10% kumquat; 8% of summer fruits and cherries; Vegetables such as potatoes, onions and artichokes constitute 2%.

But among these losses, kumquat breeders suffered the most with 50% loss. Frost damaged 37% of almond trees, 7% of summer fruits and 5% of vegetables.
