Tel Aviv University researchers have managed to record and analyze the sounds emitted by plants for the first time.

These sounds are emitted at a sound level similar to human speech, but with high frequencies beyond the hearing range of the human ear; similar to the clicking noises of popcorn exploding.

The article, published in Cell, one of the prestigious science journals, was collaborated with researchers from the Steinhardt Museum of Natural History and research students Itzhak Khait and Ohad Lewin-Epstein, Raymond and Beverly Sackler School of Mathematical Sciences, Cereal Crops Research Institute, and the Sagol School of Neuroscience; Prof. from the School of Plant Sciences and Food Safety, Wise Faculty of Life Sciences. Lilach Hadany, Head of the Sagol School of Neuroscience and faculty member of the School of Zoology and the Faculty of Biology, Prof. It was conducted in collaboration with Yossi Yovel.
