Nihan Işık, who grew up with agriculture from a young age on her family's farm in the rural Baklalı District of Adana Merkez Sarıçam district, graduated from Çukurova University Faculty of Agriculture last year.
Işık, who was actively involved in agriculture on the farm his father and two older brothers took care of during his university education, took over the business after graduation.
Işık works to get the best yield on the lands where 11 types of products are grown, from olive to cotton, from potato to pomegranate, where production takes place every month of the year.
Işık, who started working early in the day, ensures that all agricultural production is carried out on more than 3 thousand decares of land.
Işık told Anadolu Agency (AA) that he loves farming and preferred this department at university.
Stating that he is responsible for all agricultural production on the lands belonging to his family and uncle, Işık stated that he is open to the use of innovation and technology in addition to traditional products, and that this year they planted colored cotton on a 1200 decare area for the first time.
Işık said that although his area of responsibility is very large, he can catch up with all the works with the right planning.
Responsible for the Whole Process
Explaining that women can also do agriculture very well, Işık continued as follows:

“I am responsible for the whole process from planting the seed to the harvest in the fields and gardens of approximately 3 thousand decares. I do maintenance work in many areas, including irrigation, spraying and fertilization. Of course, as a woman, it is difficult to 'speak' at some points. A word is worthless. We reward it very well with the products we have obtained at the end of the harvest and the successes we have achieved. Femininity has a lot of disadvantages in this regard. When you respond very well with your success, they all say 'Good luck, congratulations' next season. They are with you by saying.
Işık stated that he enjoyed living on a farm in the countryside and taking care of agriculture.
Young People Will Carry The Flag
Nebi Işık also said that she is pleased that her daughter is in charge of her business.
Stating that most families in the neighborhood watch with sadness that their children are no longer doing this job, Işık said, “We feel very sorry for the vacant households in the village. The fields are going from hand to hand, changing, industrialists are coming. We need people who live in the village, who work in agriculture. We have been living in the village for 6 generations. We are still in the household established by my father's grandfather. Now, I hope those who come after us will also carry this flag, but I am 100 percent sure that Nihan will carry it.” said.
